A study session to review the General Plan Land Use Map is scheduled for 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, in the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors chambers. Changes that have been proposed could undermine the terms and conditions under which people purchased their properties. For example, Rancho Calaveras is composed of 1 to 3-acre lots, yet under the new plan, may change to 1-6 units per acre. Mokelumne Hill has a Rural Residential 1/2-acre designation, but this area is placed in a category of 1-6 dwelling units per acre. The government must not be allowed to change the terms and conditions under which people purchased their property without first getting property owners written permission especially since changes like these could have a negative impact on property values.
