Tell them NO!
In spite of a court ruling finding CARB steamed forward with its draconian cap and trade scheme without seriously evaluating any less harmful options and the repudiation of the plan by every other state, the unelected and unaccountable bureaucracy continues its carefree march over the edge of the economic cliff.
This week California’s unemployment rate again rose above 12%. According to CARB itself, its cap and trade scheme represents $150 billion in new energy taxes. If that was not bad enough, extreme nvironmentalists are advocating for even more draconian measures, rejecting cap and trade in favor of a “carbon tax.”
Attend Wednesday’s CARB meeting to speak out against cap and trade
This week California’s unemployment rate again rose above 12%. According to CARB itself, its cap and trade scheme represents $150 billion in new energy taxes. If that was not bad enough, extreme environmentalists are advocating for even more draconian measures, rejecting cap and trade in favor of a “carbon tax.”
In CARB terminology, the options available include cap and trade, a carbon tax and the “no project alternative.” We support the no project alternative.
No project = No cap and trade, no carbon tax, just leave our economy alone.
If you go tell CARB, “we agree with the environmentalists that cap and trade is a mistake. With
unemployment hovering at record highs, this whole project is too costly. We support the no project alternative.”

Activate your representatives to defeat cap and trade pork bill
Los Angeles politician Senator Kevin de Leon, who you might remember for trying to end academic freedom in the wake of a critical study on AB 32 by two Sacramento professors, is now trying to redirect at least 10% of AB 32 cap and trade tax revenue to low income coastal communities (such as his own District).
Senator de Leon’s SB 535’s cost is difficult to quantify because AB 32 seems to be constantly in flux but we are probably dealing with at least $10 million. Click here to read an article by CalWatchDog calling the bill “pollution pork.” The proposal might even be an illegal tax according to Proposition 26, which passed in November and set new limits on politicians’ ability to masquerade taxes as “fees.”
The bill will be heard in the Assembly Appropriations committee on Thursday. Please call the members of this committee and tell them to vote NO because SB 535 is a fiscally irresponsible and potentially illegal tax.

Thank you for your support!
Thank you for your support. Remember, we are still monitoring billions of dollars in utility tax extensions which we stand a great chance of defeating if we can simply keep Republicans from voting for them.
The politicians have still yet to give us a firm date on the hearing but we tentatively expect it to come up for a vote in the Senate Energy, Utilities and Communications committee on August 30th. Click here to read more about this tax. I will be in communication with you as soon as they give us a firm date.
Friend, we might be up against some wily characters, but our victory is inevitable because our task is far easier than theirs. Imagine we were being governed by dancing hippos. The hippos would have the formidable task of convincing people they were actually competent and not really dancing hippos. We would only need to get people to look.
