Congressman Tom McClintock spoke Thursday evening at the Mother Lode Tea Party in Martel.
Congressman McClintock is the chairman of the House Water and Power Subcommittee, member of the House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, member of the House Tea Party Caucus and supporter of residents in the foothills.
Congressman McClintock described a new bill, H.R. 1837 and explained how it will erode water rights in northern California and how he will oppose this bill until the threat to these rights is eliminated. As currently written, this bill could have a negative impact on property owners in Calaveras and Amador
In a conversation with Peter Racz, candidate for CCWD, assurance was made by Congressman McClintock that he will not support any violation of water rights to individual property owners in the counties by the Federal government. He also state that he will vote against implementation of H.R. 1837 as it stands.
Congressman McClintock stated that is looking forward to coming to Calaveras in the near future to listen to and address concerns of his constituents.
